Vinko Möderndorfer (1958, Slovenia), director, screenwriter, playwright, writer, poet, and essayist, is one of the most prolific and versatile Slovenian artists. His literary works have been included in numerous national and international anthologies, and several of his works have been translated into foreign languages and performed on foreign stages and radio stations. Alongside theatre directing, he works as a film, television, and radio director. He has received more than 50 awards and nominations for his work in the fields of literature, drama, theatre, television, and radio, including the Prešeren Fund Award, the Župančič Award, the Borštnik Award, the Marjan Rožanec Award, numerous Grum awards, the Ježek Award, several awards for the best comedy text, the Chalice of Immortality Award, the Desetnica Award, the Večernica Award, and many others.

Days of Poetry and Wine, one of the most prominent Central European poetry festivals, successfully unites poetry with enology. Every year in the last warm August days the festival hosts over twenty poets from all over the world along with selected domestic winemakers. Korean phenomenon Ko Un, American poet C. D. Wright and Swedish nominee for the Nobel Prize Lars Gustafsson are just some of the 500 prominent names of past festivals. The main emphasis – poetry and wine – is accompanied by a thoughtfully made programme in the field of music, visual, photography, film and other arts for all ages and interests.
